Three people have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on the A1 in Northumberland.
The crash occurred at around 11am on Monday near Scremerston.
The A1 remains closed in both directions between the A1167 (Scremerston Roundabout) and the B6525 junction towards Ancroft and Doddington.
Emergency services remain at the scene alongside Northumbria Police.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic incident today (August 11) at 10:58am on the A1 in Berwick Upon Tweed.
"We dispatched three ambulance crews, one community paramedic, one duty officer and were supported by our colleagues at Scottish Ambulance Service. Three patients were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital (NSEC)."
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police added: "Just after 11am today (Monday), we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A1 northbound lane at Scremerston. Emergency services are currently on scene.
"The A1 is currently closed in both directions from the roundabout at Scremerston to junction B6526 on the A1. Vehicles are currently being diverted onto the A697."
National Highways said the road was expected to be closed for "several hours."
It added that traffic was being diverted via local routes and advised people to plan ahead if travelling.
