Join us for the Academy of Migrant Arts – a series of workshops on handicrafts from different parts of the world led by people living in Poland with experience of migration.
❁ ❁ ❁ ❁
In the next #workshop, we will host Sitora from Tajikistan, who will introduce us to the traditional crafts of her country. We will focus on Suzani – embroidered, multicolored fabrics that are a highly popular decoration in homes across Central Asia. Since Suzani embroidery is very time-consuming, we will create a simplified, painted version of these fabrics. Sitora will also explain the meanings behind the colors and motifs typical of the Sughd region, where she is from.
❋ Sitora Yusupova – originally from Isfara, Tajikistan, Sitora has lived in Warsaw for 6 years. She is a journalist but has worked for several years at the Polish Migration Forum as an intercultural assistant for migrant children in primary schools. She is also the author of the podcast New Way of Life.
✿ The workshop will be conducted in Polish and English, but we welcome participants from all over the world – we’ll find a way to communicate! Before workshop there’ll be a guided tour of the Museum of Warsaw’s permanent exhibition.
WHEN: Thursday, September 19, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
WHERE: Museum of Warsaw, Old Town Market Square 28/42

Akademia Sztuk Migranckich – cykl warsztatów rękodzieła z różnych stron świata!
❁ ❁ ❁
